We planted our first garden!  We started it about a month ago, and I&#8217;ve already eaten my first salad out of it.  It was delicious!\u00c2\u00a0 I can&#8217;t wait for summer when it is all big and beautiful!<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.hippiemommy.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/04\/img_0625.jpg\" title=\"img_0625.jpg\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.hippiemommy.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/04\/img_0625.jpg\" alt=\"img_0625.jpg\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>#2 &#8211; I&#8217;m starting to read a new book called <em>Food Not Lawns<\/em>, and I am hoping to write about it.  I was recently introduced to this movement by the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.communityrootsboulder.com\/gardens.html\" target=\"_blank\">Boulder Community Roots Farm<\/a>, who sells at the Boulder Farmer&#8217;s Market.  You can read an article about them here at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.peaksoil.com\/showDiary.do?diaryId=25\" target=\"_blank\">Peaksoil<\/a>.  Basically they are a CSA that uses city plots (mostly front yards) to grow their organic produce.  Its a great use of space, and I think it is an awesome way to really put the C in CSA.  They don&#8217;t have any shares left for this year, otherwise I would&#8217;ve signed up.  This is just the kind of program that I want to support with my food dollars!<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;ve also been reading another local foodie blog &#8211;  <a href=\"http:\/\/lovelandlocal.blogspot.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">LoveLandLocal<\/a>.  I thought that I was doing a good job at buying local, but <span class=\"post-author vcard\"><span class=\"fn\">Lynnet at LoveLandLocal<\/span><\/span> is really inspiring me to push myself a bit farther.<\/p>\n<p>#3 &#8211; And, for totally random fun, I&#8217;ve also been dabbling in hooping.   I made my own hoop and I&#8217;ve been practicing at home.  I am having a blast learning new tricks and watching on youtube.  This is my current favorite video&#8230;<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/youtube.com\/watch?v=x6PEsM3rQpI\" target=\"_blank\"> http:\/\/youtube.com\/watch?v=x6PEsM3rQpI<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Anyways, I can&#8217;t spin it on my shoulder blade or anything, but I impress my kids, lol.<\/p>\n<p>Well, I hope to start blogging about <em>Food Not Lawns<\/em> in the next few days.
